Oakland Airport Will Show Puppy Love to Passengers This Valentine’s Day

OAK will host Valley Humane Society’s Canine Comfort Pet-Assisted Therapy team

Oakland, Calif. – February 13, 2024: San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport (OAK) is showing love to passengers in a few different ways this Valentine’s Day. OAK will host a special visit from Valley Humane Society’s Canine Comfort Pet-Assisted Therapy team on February 14. Five dogs, decked out in Valentine’s Day outfits, will participate along with their volunteer owners to spread some puppy love to East Bay travelers. Additionally, airport employees will be passing out Valentine’s cards to families traveling with children throughout the day, and there is a Valentine’s Day balloon arch placed in pre-security Terminal 1 for festive photos.

“San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport looks forward to hosting Valley Humane Society for the Valentine’s Day holiday,” says Craig Simon, Interim Director of Aviation at the Port of Oakland. “We appreciate the valuable service provided by the Canine Comfort Pet-Assisted Therapy team, and we thank them for spreading the love at OAK. We hope that passengers enjoy their special visit.”

Valley Humane Society, located in Pleasanton, CA, brings animals to places other pets can’t go, sharing the unconditional love that pets offer and creating opportunities for people to experience the love of a pet. Sharing their own beloved companions, Valley Humane Society Canine Comfort Pet-Assisted Therapy volunteers team up with their dogs to improve the lives of others through our community by visiting medical facilities, schools, and retirement homes.

Valentine’s Day will be the first time that Valley Humane Society will bring this program to OAK. Five dogs will participate including Peach, Bailey, Karli, Ketchum, and Torrie, along with their volunteer owners.
